The Technical Definition and Working Principle of the Bucket Elevator

With several buckets evenly fixed on the component with the endless traction, the bucket elevator is becoming a transport machinery, which can lift materials vertically in succession. The bucket elevator can be divided into two types, including the chain bucket and belt bucket.

The bucket elevator has many advantages, such as the large conveying capacity, high hoisting height, stable and reliable operation, and long service life. The main performance and parameter accord with the advanced international standard. The bucket elevator, made by Fote Heavy Machinery, is applied to convey the powdery or granular materials, or the ones of small block, such as coal, cement, stone, sand, clay, ore, and so on. Because the hauling mechanism of the bucket elevator is the circular chain, the materials with a little higher temperature, which is not more than 250℃, can be conveyed by the bucket elevator. The highest hoisting height of it, in general, is 40 meters.

The bucket elevator is used to lift the crushed limestone, coal, gypsum, clinker, dry clay, and other granular materials and some powdery materials like raw material, cement, and coal powder. According to different operation speeds of the bucket, there are three kinds of discharging methods, including the centrifugal discharging method, the discharging by gravity, and the compound discharging method. By the first method, the bucket’s discharging speed is faster, which is applied to convey the powdery or granular materials or the ones of small block. With the gravity discharging method, the discharging speed of the bucket is a little slow, which is applied to convey the materials of big block or nubby ones, such as limestone, clinker, and so on. There are several kinds of the traction components of the bucket elevator, including the endless chain, plate link chain, and belt.

The structure and the production process of the endless chain are simple, which is linked with the buckets firmly. There is less abrasion of the chain but the weight of it is big. The structure of the plate link chain is firm and it is light, which can be used for the bucket elevator of large hoisting capacity. But the joints of it are easy to be worn. The structure of the belt is simple. Its temperature should be paid much attention to.
